Did you hear...

Oh, it was such a sad thing. I just have to tell you about this guy I know and what happened to him. This story came from his own lips as he recuperated from his heinous injuries...

..."It was a bright Wednesday morning, with not a cloud in the sky. I was out milling about when I came across the most beautiful horse I'd ever laid eyes upon. His coat was the slickest, shiniest black it almost looked blue. The urge to ride this glorious beast took root in my heart and there was no way to talk me out of it.

So, I gently approached him and to my delight saw he was already saddled. The saddle itself was an old, worn brown with a few sliver studs here and there - nothing in beauty compared to the stallion it rode on. But it didn't matter to me whether he was saddled or not, I was going to ride him.

He never moved, nor made a sound as I placed my foot in the stirrup and seated myself. I leaned forward to grab the reins and couldn't resist from running my hand over his soft mane. I hesitantly bumped his flanks with my heels and away we went. I threw my head back and sighed as the warm morning air caressed my face like a old-lover. My thundering heart threatened to fly right out of my chest!

Then the unthinkable happened. I don't know whether he got spooked by some children nearby or what, but I suddenly flew from my seat. My head hit the hard ground with a resounding thump and I momentarily saw stars. But it was only a second before I realized my foot was still hung in the stirrup. I reached forward and tried in vein to get my foot free. It wasn't happening, I was stuck.

The horse paid no heed to my state and continued to gallop away without a care in the world. I just knew I was going to die. And then it happened. My saving grace....

The manager of K-Mart came out and unplugged the machine"...
